A characteristics analysis of non-motorized transport

In: UMTRI Research Review, Vol. 20, No. 5, March-April 1990, p. 1-11

Authors: C. L. Wright

This paper examines the impact of urban transport modes on human welfare and, in particular, the role of walking and cycling. A strategy will then be outlined with Brazilian examples for using traffic engineering, street layout and design, and operational changes to make non-motorized transport safer, more attractive, and better suited for complementary use with transit for longer urban trips.
