Safe Driver, Smart Options Program Receives Award

The statewide strategy for improving the mobility of Michigan's older adults called Safe Driver Smart Options has been awarded an Outstanding Traffic Safety Achievement Award by the Governor's Traffic Safety Advisory Commission. The strategy was developed as a collaboration between the Michigan Department of Transportation, the Michigan Department of State, and UMTRI's Behavioral Sciences Group. The research project was led by David W. Eby, UMTRI Research Professor and Lisa J. Molnar, UMTRI Associate Research Scientist. This strategy also has won three national awards from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA).  The website for the strategy can be found here:  The background research report can be found here:
