Dr. Yiheng Feng is an assistant research scientist in the Engineering Systems Group. He earned a PhD degree in systems and industrial engineering from the University of Arizona. He also has an MS degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota and a BS degree from Zhejiang University, China. Dr. Feng's research interests focus on safety and mobility applications with connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), including traffic signal optimization, vehicle trajectory optimization, eco driving, cybersecurity of transportation infrastructure, and CAV testing and evaluation. The data collection system and traffic control algorithms that he developed have been implemented in several real-world arterial corridors including Ann Arbor, MI and Anthem, AZ. By utilizing connected vehicle trajectory data, the new system can significantly reduce vehicle delay and improve safety at signalized intersections.
Dr. Feng has co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed papers published in top transportation journals and conferences including Transportation Research Part B, Transportation Research Part C, and Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting. He is the recipient of inaugural Chinese Oversea Transportation Association (COTA) best dissertation award.
